Running on Saturdays from 9 AM to 4 PM, the course provides a comprehensive introduction to essential bricklaying techniques and knowledge.

Week 1: Introduction to Tools, Materials, and Basic Techniques

- Introduction to types of mortar and mixing techniques.
- Laying the first course of bricks and maintaining correct levels.
- Building a Single Brick Wall
Week 2: Building Piers and Half-Brick Return Corners
- Understanding and Building Piers
- Constructing Half-Brick Return Corners
Practical task: Constructing half-brick return corners and piers
Week 3: Constructing Block Walls
- Understanding Load Bearings
- DPC’s and damp proof membranes
- Construction Methods
Week 4: Constructing Cavity Walls
- Cavity Wall insulation and ties

Constructing One-Brick Walls
- Concrete block and thermo block construction
Practical task: Constructing a cavity wall
Week 5: Assessment
- Course Review
- Final Assessment – Evaluation of skills learned throughout the course and practical assessments of constructed wall and block work
